More and more people are looking at ways of blogging to make an income, and the steps it takes to make their blog profitable.

To be successful in producing a profitable blog, the main key in achieving your goal is to develop a large reader following.   You see the higher your traffic is (how much traffic you actually get to your site), the more money advertisers will want to pay you.  Now finding and reaching the visitors that are going to keep coming back in order for your blog to be profitable is not any easy task to achieve.

Many new blogs are appearing every day and this does make it harder for many people to make money from blogging.  Unfortunately by having a fantastic theme or even a unique writing style is not enough nowadays to attract people attention and get them to visit your blog.

The main key is to be effective at marketing your blog.  You see there are far too many bloggers who don’t do enough research or planning into what it takes to market your blog.  The majority of bloggers spend more time writing posts for their blog than spending the time that is required to market it.

Of course by updating your blog is a fabulous way to keep your blog listing higher on blogrolls and in blog specific search engines such as Technorati.  This is a great way of getting your readers to see that you do update your blog frequently and gets them interested in coming back to your site more regularly.

The downside is that if you are not marketing your blog then what is the point of posting updates regularly if you don’t have any readers to read them.  Take the time to market your blog and draw the attention of possible readers and turn them into your visitors.

To commence the task making your blog profitable, I would begin with lessening the amount of posts you are putting on your blog per week.  This gives you some extra time that you can use to market your blog and draw in some new visitors.

Start by setting up link exchanges with other bloggers.  Make appropriate contacts within the blog community and adopt other demonstrated ways of acquiring traffic.

Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter if you have a unique idea for your blog or are even a marketing guru, succeeding in blogging for profit will not happen immediately.

To build the type of reader following that successful blogging for profit involves will take time.  From the time you start effectively marketing your blog, you may not experience a profit until several months down the track.  It is essential during these first several months that you stay focused and dedicated.  You will have your rough patches but don’t give up.

Keep yourself motivated.  Ensure that you put into place a goal for how many readers you want to attract to your blog.  Follow through with your schedule on when and how often you are going to post updates to your blog.  Stick to your plan and follow it through.  In the end you will be able to reward yourself for having a profitable blog.
